Open letter to the Mandolin Community:

Dear friends,

I am incredibly sad to tell you that after many years of serving the community, Mandolin will be closing its doors at the end of September.  Our last day of regular in store service will be September 15.  The following week, we will serve food and drinks take out only until our supplies run out.  

Our building sold recently and two weeks ago the new landlords served notice that their plans to use the building had accelerated and Mandolin has to vacate by the end of September. Unfortunately, we do not have enough time to relocate and will instead be liquidating the business.  Our equipment, furniture, décor, and books will be available for sale in the coming weeks in order to recover some of the value of what has been invested over the years.  

I know Mandolin is a treasured gathering place for so many people. It has been more than just a coffeeshop or bookstore.  This is not how I wanted Mandolin to end.  With all my heart, I will miss bumping into friends and neighbours at Mandolin.  

I invite you to support Mandolin as we wrap up and help us to end well.

What You Can Do

Come visit!   I invite you to come visit at least one more time over the next six weeks … make another memory, buy a few books, and if you have one, redeem a gift card.

Buy our décor and furniture!  I will be launching an online auction to enable Mandolin’s supporters to bid on the lovely décor and furniture items that helped create the store’s cozy ambiance. Bring home a piece of Mandolin that will bring a smile to your face and fond memories for you.  Ten percent of these proceeds will be donated towards the new Highlands Community League Hall.  The auction is now open for bidding at:  https://www.32auctions.com/Mandolin

Buy some books!   Our entire collection is now 30% off.  Deeper discounts will follow in the coming weeks. So come and buy as many books as you can!

Spread the word!  Let your friends, family, and neighbours know how they can support Mandolin in its final days. I really do hope that everyone who loves Mandolin will come visit, at least one more time.

Owning and operating Mandolin for the past decade has been a joy and a privilege, and I thank you for your all your support and for creating so many wonderful memories.
